General information
Due to the decrease in ambient temperature, the fluidity of diesel fuel also decreases due to the formation of paraffin in it. For this reason, special additives are introduced into diesel fuel in winter, increasing the fluidity of the fuel and ensuring engine start at temperatures down to -15 degrees or down to -22 degrees. (super diesel fuel).
However, these additives are not always sufficient. For this reason, diesel engines of Corsa models are equipped with heating elements of the fuel filter. Heating is switched on at a temperature below 6 degrees after starting the engine and at a temperature above 16 degrees it is switched off again.
Due to the increased power consumption of the heating elements during engine start-up, all consumers that are not needed at the moment should be switched off.
In vehicles not equipped with fuel filter heating elements, up to 30% kerosene, unleaded gasoline or special additives are added to diesel fuel when refueling to improve fluidity.
Directions for adding additives:
- Make sure that mixing is done before filling the vehicle with diesel fuel.
- Do not add more than 30% kerosene or unleaded gasoline. Add special additives to improve fluidity in accordance with their manufacturers' instructions.
- Diesel fuel with gasoline additives is flammable and explosive. Mixing should only be done outdoors.
- A fuel filter that is already clogged with thickened fuel will not clean itself. You need to put the car in a warm garage and wait until the filter thaws.
Under no circumstances should you use a blowtorch or similar means for these purposes.
