General information
As the ambient temperature drops, the fluidity of diesel fuel also decreases due to the formation of paraffin in it. For this reason, in winter, special additives are introduced into diesel fuel, which increase the fluidity of the fuel and ensure engine start at temperatures down to -15 degrees. or up to -22 degrees. (super diesel fuel).
However, these additives are not always sufficient. For this reason, Corsa diesel engines are equipped with fuel filter heating elements. Heating is switched on at a temperature below 6 degrees. after starting the engine and at temperatures above 16 degrees. turns off again.
Due to the increased power consumption of the heating elements during the engine start period, all consumers that are not needed at the moment should be turned off.
On vehicles not equipped with fuel filter heating elements, up to 30% of kerosene, unleaded gasoline or special additives to improve fluidity are added to diesel fuel during refueling.
Directions for adding impurities:
- Make sure that mixing is done before filling the vehicle with diesel fuel.
- Do not add more than 30% kerosene or unleaded gasoline. Add special flow additives in accordance with their manufacturers' instructions.
- Diesel fuel with gasoline additives is flammable and explosive. Mixing should only be done outdoors.
- A fuel filter already clogged with thickened fuel will not clean itself. It is necessary to put the car in a warm garage and wait until the filter thaws.
Never use a blowtorch or similar for this purpose.
Replacement
1. Remove the fuel filter.
2. Disconnect the heater from the filter assembly.
3. Lubricate the filter heater O-ring with diesel fuel.
