Maximum engine speed is controlled by the ECM and cannot be adjusted by the car owner. Below is a description of the speed check procedure, adjustment requires the use of special diagnostic equipment and should be entrusted to car service specialists.
1. Start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
2. Ask an assistant to depress the accelerator pedal and check that the maximum speed complies with the standard requirements (see Specifications in Chapter Fuel, exhaust and emission control systems).
Do not let the engine run at maximum speed for more than two or three seconds!
