The fuel filter must be drained of water every 12 months and replaced every 30,000 km.

Place a container under the fuel filter to collect water.

Loosen the air bleed screw at the top of the filter and the water drain plug at the bottom of the filter and drain approximately 100 cm³ of water.

Attention! Do not drain all the contents of the filter!


Screw in the plugs to drain water and release air.

Caution! After removing water from the fuel filter, there is no need to bleed air from the fuel system.

Unscrew the filter element from the filter housing using a special chain wrench (see fig.).

Attention! The filter is filled to the brim with diesel fuel. Remove it carefully, placing a dry rag underneath.

Screw in a new filter element and fill the filter with fuel. Lightly moisten the rubber gasket with fuel before installation.

Attention! Install the filter element without the middle sealing ring and retaining ring, which are included in the car spare parts kit and are used in old Opel filters that do not have heating.


Remove air from the fuel system.

Check the power supply system for leaks.
