To perform its function - starting the engine - the starter must operate at a speed of at least 300 rpm, which is only possible if it is in good working order and the battery is charged.



As part of the vehicle maintenance work, the relevant wiring should be checked for serviceability, since the starter consumes a lot of current. Any corroded connections found should be cleaned of rust and treated with a special protective contact grease.

The starter consists of an electric motor and a traction relay. The pole and collector parts contain the anchor, collector and brush holder. Carbon brushes wear out over time. If the brushes are heavily worn, the starter may fail.

Cars with petrol engines are equipped with a starter from BOSCH, diesel cars - with a starter from MAGNETTI MARELLI.
