Attention! When the battery is disconnected from the memory of some electronic control units, the registered information is deleted, for example, codes of registered malfunctions in the operation of the engine, gearbox, ABS, as well as the radio security code are deleted from the memory of the self-diagnosis system.
The power window control unit will need to be activated after connecting the battery.
Installation
1. Before installing the battery, clean its poles with a brass brush. To protect against corrosion, lubricate both pole outputs with a special battery grease, such as BOSCH.
2. Install the battery in the tray.
3. Fix the battery in the tray with the pressure plate by screwing in the fastening bolt (see illustration).
4. First connect the positive potential wire terminal to the pole (+), and then the wire terminal «masses» (-) to the negative pole (see illustration 11.3).
Attention! Ensure reliable contact «weight» (-). High contact resistance, especially when starting the engine, can overload the engine control unit and even damage it.
OPEL OMEGA cars are fitted with maintenance-free batteries as standard. This battery does not require topping up with distilled water, as in earlier models, however, it is necessary to follow some rules for caring for it.
