Terminal designation:
- Terminal 31 is «weight» (-) and provides connection with the body (like other parts of the electrical equipment of the car).
- Terminal 53 is energized for the first wiper speed.
- Positive potential applied to terminal 53a (+) to install the wiper in the original (final) position. Voltage is supplied to the sliding contact of the motor until it stops after applying the appropriate «teams» driver.
- Terminal 53b is energized for second wiper speed (shunt winding).
- Terminal 53e decelerates the motor after the wiper is switched off to prevent the wiper from overshooting the park position.
Checking the wiper motor
First find out what is wrong: the motor, or no voltage. To do this, proceed as follows:
1. Disconnect the multi-pin plug from the motor.
2. Power the motor by running 2 auxiliary wires from the battery.
Run one wire from the positive battery pole to terminal 53 or 53b and the other wire from the negative battery pole to terminal 31 of the wiper motor.
The wiper motor should now run, depending on which terminal is energized, at speed I or II. If this is not the case, then the engine or one of the stages of rotation of the electric motor is faulty. Remove the electric motor.
