Generator — device (Opel Omega B2)

OPEL OMEGA cars are equipped with a three-phase alternating current generator. Depending on the car modification, a generator designed for a current of 70 to 120 A can be installed. Generators from BOSCH, DELCO REMY are installed, and on cars with a diesel engine from VALE0 (see illustration 12.0).

The alternating current generated by the generator is converted by the rectifier diodes into direct current, which is used to recharge the battery and power the on-board network consumers. The regulator converts the charging current so that the operating voltage is about 14 V regardless of the generator rotation frequency.

In cars with diesel engines, a vacuum pump is attached to the opposite side of the alternator to the V-belt pulley. It is driven by the alternator shaft and creates the necessary vacuum for the brake booster.
