1. Below is a description of how to remove the injectors for Z10XE(P)/Z12XE/Z14XEP engines. For other engines, this procedure is similar, but some additional work may be required to gain access to the fuel rail and injectors, or some work may not be necessary (for example, for Z14XE/Z18XE engines there is no need to disconnect the throttle module).

Removal

2. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Chapter 5).

3. Loosen the clamp and separate the engine crankcase ventilation hose and remove the throttle valve intake assembly with the intake air duct (see illustration 8.4 in Chapter 3).

4. On Z10XEP/Z14XEP engines, remove the fuel injector cover.

5. Disconnect the throttle control module and injector wiring connectors. Relieve the fuel system pressure (see Section 2).

6. Disconnect the fuel line from the fuel distribution line using a special tool Hazet 4501-1 (see accompanying illustration). When disconnecting the line, cover the connector with a rag to prevent fuel from splashing, then plug the fuel hose and move it to the side.

7. Loosen the 4 mounting bolts one by one and remove the throttle valve assembly without disconnecting the coolant hose.

8. Unscrew the 2 mounting bolts and remove the fuel distribution line together with the injectors from the engine. Remove the retaining clips (see accompanying illustration) and separate the injectors from the fuel distribution line.

Installation

9. Replace the injector sealing rings and lubricate them with silicone grease (white color).

10. Install the injectors on the fuel distribution line, while the retaining clips should be inserted so that the protrusion on the injector fits into the groove of the clip (see accompanying illustration).

11. Install the fuel distribution line and tighten its fastening to the required torque.

12. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
