Anti-theft system (Opel Corsa C)

The vehicles covered in this Manual may be equipped with one or more of the following anti-theft devices:

• Anti-theft alarm;
• Double locking system;
• Start interlock device (immobilizer).

Anti-theft alarm

The anti-theft alarm device monitors all doors against burglary or unauthorized entry (including tailgate), hood, as well as the interior volume of the passenger compartment, the tilt of the car and ignition.

An attempt to open the hood, trunk lid, enter the car through any door with the anti-theft system activated, as well as an attempt to move the car or move inside the car, will activate the sound signal, accompanied by flashing turn signals/headlights/side lights. The sound signal will turn off automatically after about 30 seconds, and the light signal - after about 5 minutes.

Note: The duration of signal activation is regulated by local legislation and may differ from the above.

The anti-theft alarm is activated by pressing the lock button on the remote control/turning the key in the driver's door lock cylinder again no later than 10 seconds after locking the car (see Section 3).

Activation of the device is confirmed by the operation of the LED built into the hazard warning switch button on the console section of the instrument panel (see illustration 8.3) - it lights up for about 10 seconds and then switches to flashing mode. If the doors or hood are not closed tightly, or the anti-theft alarm system is faulty, when the device is activated, the LED starts to flash at a high frequency - it is necessary to check the tightness of the doors/hood closing, and in case of a system malfunction, contact specialists.





The anti-theft alarm system is automatically deactivated when the doors are unlocked using the remote control or key.

When triggered, the alarm can be forcibly returned to standby mode before the set period expires by pressing the lock button on the remote control. Pressing the unlock button will deactivate the anti-theft system along with the alarm.

If necessary (for example, if animals must remain in the cabin) the anti-theft alarm can be activated without the interior and tilt control functions. To do this, before leaving the car, you must press the switch button with the ignition off (see illustration 8.4) on the ceiling console - the LED on the hazard warning switch button is activated in flashing mode. Within 10 seconds from the moment the LED is activated, you must exit the car and close all doors, and then activate the alarm in the standard way.

Double locking system

Warning: When the double locking system is activated, it is not possible to unlock the doors from the inside - never activate the system if there are passengers left in the car!

Double locking is activated by pressing the lock button on the remote control/turning the key in the driver's door lock cylinder again no later than 10 seconds after locking the car (see Section 3). The lock is deactivated automatically when the doors are unlocked using the remote control or key.

Immobilizer

Attention: Attempts to make any changes to the design of the immobilizer are associated with the risk of disrupting its normal functioning, as well as other on-board electronic systems of the car!

An immobilizer is one of the most effective means of protecting a car from theft. In appropriately equipped cars, starting the engine is only possible using an individual key equipped with a special microchip. An attempt to start with a non-standard key results in blocking the fuel supply to the engine.

The device is activated automatically when the mechanical key is removed from the ignition switch. To disable the immobilizer, simply insert the appropriate authorized key into the ignition switch and turn it to position "II" (see Section 17).

When the ignition is turned on, the indicator in the service indicator display field should light up briefly and go out after a few seconds (see Section 16). If the indicator is activated in flashing mode, the key is not recognized by the system as authorized. Remove the key from the ignition switch and try again. In case of another failure, try to turn on the ignition with a spare key and contact an Opel service station for assistance.
