You will need: 10 mm socket head, flat blade screwdriver.
1. Remove the floor tunnel lining (see Removal and installation the floor tunnel lining).
Note: If you have observed a creaking and sticking of the lever, but not increased play, try lubricating the lever hinge with consistent grease. After lubricating the hinge, further disassembly of the linkage may not be required.

2. Pry it off with a screwdriver..

3. …slide the gear selector cable end lock…

4. …and disconnect the cable from the gearshift lever.

5. Use pliers to squeeze the shift cable housing retainer…

6. …and remove the cable from the slot in the gearshift lever bracket.
7. Disconnect the gear selection cable in the same way (with a white shell).

8. Remove the four bolts securing the gearbox control lever housing to the body base…

9. ...and remove the slide.

10. Inspect the removed parts. If there is play in the linkage joints or the hole for the lever axis is badly worn, replace the linkage. If the gearbox control lever joint is worn, replace the lever assembly.
11. Install the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
12. Adjust the gear shift drive (see Adjusting the gearbox control drive).
