Removal and installation the gearbox control lever linkage (Opel Astra J)

            0

Shown is the removal of the gearshift lever linkage for a manual transmission. The automatic transmission selector is removed using almost identical techniques.

You will need: 10 mm socket head, flat blade screwdriver.

1. Remove the floor tunnel lining (see Removal and installation the floor tunnel lining).

Note: If you have observed a creaking and sticking of the lever, but not increased play, try lubricating the lever hinge with consistent grease. After lubricating the hinge, further disassembly of the linkage may not be required.

10. Inspect the removed parts. If there is play in the linkage joints or the hole for the lever axis is badly worn, replace the linkage. If the gearbox control lever joint is worn, replace the lever assembly.

11. Install the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.

12. Adjust the gear shift drive (see Adjusting the gearbox control drive).
