1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.
Attention!
- Attempting to remove the airbag module without disconnecting its power supply may result in unexpected airbag deployment.
- The following operations for removing the airbag can be started only after the activator capacitor has been completely discharged. To discharge the capacitor, it is necessary to wait at least 15 minutes after disconnecting the power supply.
- Disassembling the airbag module is prohibited.
- The airbag module must not be allowed to fall or come into contact with water, grease or oil.
- The airbag module must not be exposed to temperatures above 95°C.

2. Using a suitable rod, press out the two spring clips securing the airbag module on the left and right through the holes in the steering wheel cover…

This is how the spring clips for the driver's airbag module are located..

…and so are the holes in the steering wheel cover for access to the fasteners.

3...disconnect the module from the steering wheel..

4. …move it away from the steering wheel hub…

5. …pull out the module wiring harness connector retainer…

6. …disconnect the connector from the module terminals…

7. … and remove the airbag module from the steering wheel.

8. To replace the airbag module contact ring, remove the steering wheel (see Removal and installation the steering wheel)…

9. …and the lower part of the steering column cover (see Removal and installation the steering column cover).
Note: It is not necessary to remove the entire top section of the steering column cover as it can be folded up using the soft insert that mounts it to the instrument panel.

10. Secure the contact ring with masking tape or electrical tape.

11. Press the horn wire harness connector lock…

12. …and disconnect the block.

13. Use a screwdriver to press the retainer of the upper black connector of the wiring harness…

14. …and disconnect the connector from the contact ring.

15. Pull up the lock of the yellow wiring harness connector..

16. …remove the lock from the block.

17. Use a screwdriver to press the yellow wiring harness connector lock…

18. …and disconnect the connector from the contact ring.

19. Remove the four screws securing the airbag contact ring to the steering column switch connector…

20. …disconnect the lower black connector of the wiring harness from the contact ring…

21. …and remove the contact ring from the steering column switch connector.
22. Install the driver's airbag and its contact ring in the reverse order of removal.
