2. Check the tie rod ends for play by moving the tie rods. If there is play, the tie rod ends must be replaced.
3. Remove the corresponding front wheel (see Introduction).
4. Measure the length of the free threaded part of the rod (see resist. illustration), or count the number of free turns. Remember or write down the measurement result.
5. Slightly loosen the lock nut on the tie rod end and unscrew it a quarter of a turn, keeping the end from turning - if necessary, pre-clean the threads with a wire brush and lubricate it with a special composition to corrode rust.
6. Give a nut of fastening of a spherical pin to the lever of a rotary fist (see illustration 12.4).
7. Using a puller, release the ball pin of the tip from the steering knuckle (see resist. illustration).
8. Turn away a tip and remove it from steering draft. At the same time, remember the number of revolutions for subsequent assembly.
9. At installation screw a tip on steering draft on the number of turns counted out in the course of dismantling. At the same time, check whether the dimension of the screwing depth has been preserved «X», which was recorded during removal, otherwise the toe angles will be violated. Hand tighten the locknut.
10. Fill the ball pin into the lever on the steering knuckle and in 3 steps tighten the new self-locking fixing nut with the required force - if the finger turns, press it into the taper hole of the lever.
11. While holding the tip from turning with an open-end wrench, tighten the locknut to the required torque. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the wheel bolts.
12. At the first opportunity, drive the car to a specialized workshop to check and adjust the angles of the front wheels.
