Removing
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Apply the parking brake, then jack up the front of the vehicle and place it on jack stands. If equipped, remove the crankcase protection.
3. Drain the engine oil (see chapter Current service), then, after replacing the sealing washer, screw the plug into place and tighten it with the required force.
4. Remove a reception pipe of system of release of the fulfilled gases (see chapter Power and exhaust systems).
5. If equipped, disconnect the wiring of the oil level sensor from the sump.
Stamped pallet - models with air conditioning systems
1. Turn out bolts of fastening of a flange of the pallet to a case of transmission.
2. Remove the bolts securing the support brackets to the transmission dome and the underside of the block. Remove both brackets and the lower transmission dome guard plate.
3. Loosen evenly in several steps, then remove all pan bolts. Lightly tapping the sump from the sides with a soft-faced hammer, separate it from the engine crankcase, lower it and remove it from under the car, - at the same time, carefully lift the engine on the beam in order to ensure sufficient clearance to remove the sump - try not to damage the hoses, electrical wiring and elements of the exhaust system. Discard the pan gasket - it must be replaced during installation without fail.
4. Check the patency of the oil intake strainer - wash the strainer with a solvent, or replace the filter.
Molded sump - models without air conditioning
1. Turn out bolts of fastening of a flange of the pallet to a case of transmission.
2. Loosen evenly in several steps, then remove the sump bolts to the base of the block / oil pump housing, - note that access to the rear sump mounting bolts opens after removing the plugs from the cutouts in the sump mounting flange. After lightly tapping the pan from the sides with a soft-faced hammer, separate it from the engine crankcase, lower it and remove it from under the car, - at the same time, carefully raise the engine on the beam a little in order to ensure sufficient clearance to remove the pan, - try not to damage the hoses, electrical wiring and elements of the exhaust system. Discard the pan gasket - it must be replaced during installation without fail. Do not forget to check the patency of the oil intake strainer - wash the strainer with a solvent, or replace the filter.
Installation
Stamped pallet
1. Thoroughly clean and dry the mating surfaces of the sump flange and crankcases of the power unit. Remove all traces of oil, dirt and old sealant from the threads of the sump and oil pickup bolts.
2. If necessary, replace the O-ring and reinstall the oil pickup. Apply fixing anaerobic sealant to the threaded part of the mounting bolts, screw them in and tighten to the required torque.
3. Apply a layer of suitable sealant to the mating surface of the cylinder block around the oil pump and rear main bearing cap.
4. Lay a new gasket on the pallet, then press the pallet against the block. Lubricate the threaded part of the pan bolts with an anaerobic fixative sealant. Screw in the bolts and, moving from the center to the edges, diagonally tighten them to the required force.
5. Install the transmission dome cover and tighten its fastening bolts to the required torque.
6. Install the exhaust pipe (see chapter Power and exhaust systems). If equipped, connect the wiring to the oil level sensor on the side of the sump.
7. If equipped, reinstall the crankcase protection, then lower the vehicle.
8. Fill the engine with fresh oil (see chapter Current service).
Cast pallet
1. If removed, reinstall the oil pickup (see above stamped pallet).
2. Thoroughly clean and dry the mating surfaces of the sump flange and crankcases of the power unit. Remove all traces of oil, dirt and old sealant from the threads of the sump and oil pickup bolts.
5. Install and torque tighten the sump flange bolts. Install rubber plugs in the flange cutouts.
