Execution sequence
1. We warm up the engine to a temperature of at least 70°C. This is necessary to more completely drain the old oil from the lubrication system.
2. We install the car on a viewing ditch or overpass (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
3. Open the oil filler cap (see «Checking the levels of technical fluids»).
4. We install a capacity of at least 5 liters under the drain hole of the engine crankcase and unscrew the drain plug with a TORX T45 key.
Warning! Perform the operation carefully, as there is a risk of getting burned by the drained oil.
5. Drain the oil into the prepared container.
6. With a 24 mm wrench, unscrew the oil filter cover and remove it together with the filter element.
7. Remove the old filter element.
8. We clean the threads of the oil filter cover and replace the rubber o-ring.
9. We install a new filter element, fixing it in the filter cover with the help of clamps.
10. Lubricate the rubber ring on the filter cover with oil.
11. We wrap the filter cover and tighten it with a torque of 15 Nm.
12. Using a slotted screwdriver, remove the rubber ring of the drain plug, clean the thread and install a new ring.
13. We wrap the plug in the drain hole of the engine crankcase and tighten it to the prescribed torque (see «Reference data»).
14. Fill the engine with fresh oil.
Recommendation. Do not immediately fill in the recommended 4.25 liters of oil. Old oil usually does not drain completely. It is better to fill first with about 3.5 liters, and then top up as necessary, controlling the level using an oil level indicator, (see «Checking the engine oil level»).
15. Install the oil filler cap.
16. We start the engine for a few minutes, after which we stop it and check the oil level and the absence of leaks from under the filter gasket and drain plug.
Comment. The emergency oil pressure warning light may stay on a little longer than normal, but should go out within a few seconds. If the lamp does not go out within 5 seconds, stop the engine immediately and find out the reason for the drop in oil pressure (see «Possible car malfunctions and their causes»).
