An immobilizer is one of the most effective means of protecting a car from theft. In appropriately equipped cars, starting the engine is only possible using an individual key equipped with a special microchip. An attempt to start with a non-standard key results in blocking the fuel supply to the engine.
The device is activated automatically when the mechanical key is removed from the ignition switch. To disable the immobilizer, simply insert the appropriate authorized key into the ignition switch and turn it to position "II".
When the ignition is turned on, the indicator in the service indicator display field should light up briefly
and go out after a few seconds. If the indicator continues to light, the key is not recognized by the system as authorized. Remove the key from the ignition and try again. In case of another failure, try to turn on the ignition with a spare key and contact an Opel service station for assistance.
