Left: In the section of the torque converter, the vanes of the pump wheel and the idler wheel are visible. The arrow shows the clutch friction lining for connecting the pump wheel (torque converter) with an engine that switches to a hard through drive in 3rd and 4th gear.
On right: In a planetary gearbox, the gears are constantly engaged. Shifting is done without interrupting traction: by releasing and holding the sun wheel, planetary gears or planetary ring gear.

Downshifting: no gas (rolling) barely perceptible shifting at very low speeds. A jolt when shifting into reverse at partial or full throttle is normal. Reverse switching without a groove by the selector lever lasts one to two seconds. If the gas is added during forced shifting back with the selector lever, then the gear shift occurs without slowing down.
