Removal



Upper tensioner

1. Remove the air filter housing.

2. Unscrew the bolt securing the right engine support from the cylinder head.

2. Unscrew the bolt securing the right engine support from the cylinder head.


3. Unscrew the tensioner head from the rear of the cylinder head and remove the plunger.

Warning: Do not turn the engine crankshaft when removing the tensioner.

4. Inspect the tensioner plunger for wear or damage and replace if necessary.

Lower chain tensioner

5. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on stands.

6. Unscrew the lower chain tensioner head and remove the plunger.



Warning: Do not turn the engine crankshaft when removing the tensioner.


7. Inspect the tensioner plunger for wear or damage and replace if necessary.

Installation



Upper tensioner

1. Lubricate the tensioner plunger with clean engine oil and insert it into the cylinder head.

2. Install a new O-ring to the tensioner head and tighten the head to the specified torque.

3. Press the tensioner plunger head until it clicks into place to properly adjust the tensioner.

4. Install the right powertrain mount.

7. Install the lower tensioner head with a new O-ring and tighten to the specified torque. If installing a new tensioner, press the pin in the center of the head until it clicks, which should cause the pin to easily push back into place.
