Upper tensioner



Removal



1. Remove the air filter housing.

2. Unscrew the bolt securing the right engine support from the cylinder head.

2. Unscrew the bolt securing the right engine support from the cylinder head.


3. Unscrew the tensioner head from the rear of the cylinder head.

3. Unscrew the tensioner head from the rear of the cylinder head.


4. Remove the tensioner plunger.

Warning: Do not turn the engine crankshaft when removing the tensioner.


5. Inspect the tensioner plunger for wear or damage and replace if necessary.

Installation



1. Lubricate the tensioner plunger with clean engine oil and insert it into the cylinder head.

2. Install a new sealing ring to the tensioner head (indicated by the arrow).

3. Press the tensioner plunger head until it clicks to properly adjust the tensioner. Screw the head in to the specified torque.

4. Install the right powertrain mount.

5. Install the air filter housing.

Lower chain tensioner



Removal



1. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on stands.

2. Unscrew the lower chain tensioner head.

2. Unscrew the lower chain tensioner head.


3. Remove the plunger.



Warning: Do not turn the engine crankshaft when removing the tensioner.


4. Inspect the tensioner plunger for wear or damage and replace if necessary.

Installation



Installation


1. Lubricate the plunger (indicated by the arrow) tensioner mechanism with clean engine oil and insert it into place.

2. Install the lower tensioner head with a new O-ring and tighten to the specified torque. If installing a new tensioner, press the pin in the center of the head until it clicks, which should cause the pin to easily push back into place.
