Removing
1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
2. Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands.
3. Drain the engine oil. Install a new washer on the oil drain plug and install the plug in the oil pan, tightening it to the specified torque.
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the temperature and oil level sensors (indicated by an arrow).
5. Unscrew the fastening bolts (indicated by arrows) protrusion of the oil pan to the gearbox housing.
6. Gradually and sequentially unscrew the bolts securing the oil pan to the cylinder block. Remove the oil pan and gasket.
7. Unscrew the bolt securing the oil receiver pipe and check the condition of the strainer (mounting bolts are indicated by arrows).
Installation
1. Clean all traces of oil and dirt from the mating surfaces of the sump and cylinder block.
2. Install a new o-ring on the oil pickup tube and install the tube in place.
3. Apply a thin coat of sealant to the bottom surface of the cylinder block mating to the oil pump and rear main bearing cap.
4. Apply a thin layer of sealant to the bottom of the cylinder block mating with the rear main bearing cap. Places of application of sealant are indicated by arrows.
5. Install the gasket to the oil pan and install the gasket to the cylinder block. Secure the oil pan with bolts.
6. Working from the center in a diagonal sequence, tighten the oil pan mounting bolts.
7. Screw in the bolts securing the protrusion of the oil pan to the gearbox housing.
8. Connect the electrical connectors to the temperature and oil level sensors.
9. Lower the vehicle and fill the engine oil with engine oil.
