Removing
1. Remove the flywheel or drive plate from the crankshaft (see relevant chapter).
2. Remove the oil pan (see relevant chapter).
3. Remove the rear oil seal cover by unscrewing the six mounting bolts (see arrows in illustration).
4. Using a suitable tool, press gland 1 out of the holder, taking care not to damage the sealing surfaces of the holder (see illustration).
5. Clean the sealing surfaces and remove any remaining seal from them.
Attention! The working surface 1 of the rear oil seal is very sensitive and therefore you should not hold the oil seal with your fingers on this surface (see illustration).
Installation
6. Install the oil seal in the holder, put on the support sleeve 1 and fix it on the crankshaft 2, and then press the oil seal into the holder using the mandrel 3 and 4 (see illustration).
7. Lubricate bushing 2 and flange 1 with white silicone grease and fit gasket 3 (see illustration).
8. Fix the holder 4 of the rear oil seal on the cylinder block by tightening the M6 bolts with a force of 9.9 Nm, and the M8 bolts with a force of 24 Nm (see illustration).
9. Remove the gland retainer.
