Warnings: Checking and adjusting the fuel injection system (Opel Kadett E)

To avoid injury and damage to fuel injection system components, the following rules must be followed.

Do not operate the engine if the wire clamps are not securely fastened to the battery terminals.

Do not disconnect the wires from the battery terminals while the engine is running.

It is necessary to disconnect the battery from the vehicle's electrical system when charging it in a vehicle from an external power source.

Do not start the engine using an external power source with a voltage greater than 12 V.

Do not disconnect the controller electrical connector when the ignition is on.

Before connecting the plug connectors, make sure there is no damage or oxidation on the contacts of the plug and socket parts, and that the connectors are securely connected. Make sure there is a rubber seal on the pads and a locking spring. Replace a damaged spring. Before carrying out work on the vehicle using electric welding, including spot welding, disconnect the controller connector. Remove the controller if the vehicle will be exposed to temperatures above 80°C (for example, before placing a freshly painted car in a drying chamber).

Before checking the compression in the engine cylinders, disconnect the pads from the injection nozzles to prevent fuel from being supplied to the cylinders.

Do not check the wires and their connections with a test lamp.

Do not check for voltage in the circuit "for a spark". Do not insert tester tips into the sockets of fuel injection system units. Measurements may be made on the supply wires, after removing the connector protective cover.



Before checking the voltage in the circuits, check the state of charge of the battery. Before checking the connections to the "ground", disconnect the wires from the terminals of the battery.

Do not touch the terminals of the primary and secondary windings of the ignition coil while it is under voltage.

Before disconnecting the battery, it is necessary to read the fault code displayed by the system fault indicator lamp in the instrument cluster. To prevent the controller from failing, strictly observe the polarity of the power supply wires.

To avoid damage to the controller and ignition coil, never connect the ignition plug lead to the "+" terminal of the battery or to "ground". Do not disconnect or connect the controller connector when the ignition is on. Disconnect the controller connector only after 20 seconds.
