In case of malfunction of the ignition or injection system, before proceeding with the determination of malfunctions of the controller or any sensor, be sure to check the condition of all connectors. To do this, disconnect the connectors, clean them and spray a special agent to restore electrical contact in an aerosol can.
If the fault persists, close the corresponding terminals of the diagnostic block and read the fault code by blinking the malfunction indicator lamp of the digital engine control system, then, depending on the results of the reading, perform the following checks.
To read fault codes from the controller memory, perform the following operations.
Remove the diagnostic block from the mounting bracket located on the left side of the engine compartment next to the block for connecting the octane number regulator.
Bridge pins «A» «weight» And «B» pads (see photo), bringing the system into diagnostic display mode. At the same time, the system malfunction indicator lamp «Motronic» code should flash in the instrument cluster «12»: inclusion (decimal digit notation «1»), pause 1 s (interval between decimal digit units place), two inclusions (unit digit designation «2»). Code «12» means that the diagnostic system is working, and its absence indicates a malfunction in the diagnostic system itself.
After issuing a diagnostic code, the control lamp issues codes for all detected faults in ascending order of their numbers. After dialing each code, there is a pause of 2 s. The fault code display cycle is repeated three times. Issuing only a diagnostic code «12» indicates the normal operation of the injection system, i.e. not a single failure in operation was registered. Assume that fault codes are stored in the controller memory «15», «44» And «51». In this case, the indicator lamp in the instrument cluster will turn on and off as follows:
- issuance of diagnostic code «12»;
- pause 2 s;
- inclusion: set decimal digit «1» code «15»;
- pause 1 s;
- five inclusions: set the digits of the units digit «5» code «15»;
- pause 2 s;
- four inclusions: set decimal digit «4» code «44»;
- pause 1 s;
- four inclusions: set digits digit units «4» code «44»;
- pause 2 s;
- five inclusions: set decimal digit «5» code «51»;
- pause 1 s;
- turn on: set digits digit units «1» code «51»;
- 2 s after a pause, the cycle of displaying fault codes is repeated twice, starting with a code set «15».
