Schematic of the LE-Jetronik system: 1. Fuel tank; 2. Electric fuel pump; 3. Fuel filter; 4. Distribution fuel line; 5. Pressure regulator; 6. Control device; 7. Injection valve (injector); 8. Adjusting screw for idle speed; 9. Throttle position sensor; 10. Throttle valve; 11. Air flow meter; 12. Control relay; 13. Engine temperature sensor; 14. Ignition distributor; 15. Thermoelectric damper for additional air. Additional damper; 16. Idle mixture adjusting screw; 17. Battery; 18. Ignition lock
Fuel is taken from the tank by a pump and fed through the fuel filter to the distribution line and injection valves. The pressure regulator maintains a constant pressure of 2.5 bar in the system. The air drawn in by the engine passes through the air filter and air flow meter. The control device sets, according to the amount of measured air and engine speed, the duration of injection and the volume of the mixture. The longer the injection valve is open, the more fuel is injected. Additional sensors and probes provide accurate fuel delivery in extreme temperatures and driving conditions.
The Throttle Position Sensor responds to throttle position signals. So, if the idle speed drops below the set value and the contacts of the idle position of the extreme position sensor are open, then the fuel supply is restored.
The control relay cuts off the fuel supply when the engine is stopped, regardless of the reason, after 0.15 seconds.
The thermoelectrically heated auxiliary air spool stabilizes the engine speed during warm-up.
The control device is in the straw. behind the right side trim, at the feet. To check the injection system, it is not necessary to remove it.
Attention! The terminals on the plug of the LE-Jetromc are not marked. When checking, count the terminals starting from 1, it is on the wire inlet side. Terminals 1 to 13 are on the long block, terminals 14 to 25 are on the short block, not used.
Attention! When working on the injection system, observe strict cleanliness. Rinse with gasoline before disassembly. The system is under pressure, therefore, before replacing individual parts, reduce it by removing the fuel line between the pump and the filter. The pressure may drop by itself if the engine is left idle for several hours.
Precautionary measures
Do not start the engine with a badly connected battery.
Do not use a fast battery charger to start the engine.
Never disconnect the battery while the engine is running.
When fast charging, disconnect the battery from the car's on-board network.
Before checking the LE-Jetronik system, make sure that the ignition system is in order, i.e. the ignition system and spark plugs must comply with the instructions.
At temperatures above +80°С (dry oven) remove the control device.
Ensure that the devices are connected securely.
Do not remove or plug in the control unit plug when the ignition is switched on.
When checking compression, disconnect the wiring from the control relay.
