Removing
Remove the corresponding front wheel.
Disconnect the wheel shaft from the wheel hub.
Loosen the nut from the wheel shaft.
Hold with special tool KM-468-B on the front wheel hub.
Remove the tie rod from the steering knuckle by unscrewing the fastening nut.
Press the tie rod out of the steering knuckle using special tool KM-161-B in conjunction with tool KM-161-2.
Disconnect the brake hose from the spring strut support tube.
Remove the clamping bar.
Disconnect the brake hose from the bracket.
Disconnect the swing arm (1) from the support tube of the spring strut.
Hold the flats with an open wrench.
Remove the joint from the steering knuckle by unscrewing the mounting bolt.
Remove the steering knuckle with a special tool KM 915.
Take out the hinge from a rotary fist.
Press the wheel shaft out of the wheel hub.
Note. At the same time, take the steering knuckle outward, use a wheel hub puller if necessary.
Remove the bottom cover of the engine compartment
Remove the wheel shaft from the gearbox and knock it off the intermediate shaft.
Note. Collect the oil in a pan and close the holes with plugs.
Be careful when handling the wheel shaft.
Installation
Install the wheel shaft into the gearbox.
Install a new circlip on the wheel shaft.
Coat splines and bearing points with gear oil
Install the wheel shaft into the gearbox, hammer into the gearbox with a rubber mallet and a suitable soft metal bar until the circlip snaps into place.
On vehicles with an intermediate shaft, install the wheel shaft onto the intermediate shaft.
Replace snap ring on intermediate shaft.
Attach the right wheel shaft to the intermediate shaft.
Attention! Taking care not to damage the splines, press in the intermediate shaft using a suitable soft metal punch until the circlip snaps into place.
Install the wheel shaft into the wheel hub.
Attach the joint to the steering knuckle and tighten to 50 Nm.
Use new nuts.
Attach the pivot arm to the spring strut support tube and tighten to 55 Nm.
Use new nuts.
Hold the flats with an open wrench.
Attach the tie rod to the steering knuckle and tighten to 30 Nm + 90°+ 15°.
Use new nuts.
Attach the brake hose to the spring strut support tube.
Install the brake hose to the bracket on the spring strut support tube.
Fasten with clamping bar.
Install the wheel shaft into the wheel hub and tighten to 150 Nm, back off by 45°, then tighten to 250 Nm.
Use new nuts.
Hold the wheel hub with special tool KM-468-B.
Install the front wheel and tighten the mounting bolts to 110 Nm.
Check fluid level in gearboxes.
