Note: Lubricants and fluids recommended for use by the vehicle manufacturer at the time of writing this manual are listed below. If the Manual does not contain information about the type of oil or fluid for specific units, or you need to get more recent information, contact Opel official dealers for advice.
Type, properties and volumes of working fluids
Fuel
Caution: The use of leaded gasoline and the abuse of fuel additives can result in catalytic converter failure, emissions failure and engine damage. On diesel models, never use additives for winter operation, which increase the fluidity of the fuel. If these requirements are not met in the event of an engine failure, the manufacturer's warranty obligations do not apply to this vehicle!
The engines of the Opel model range are designed for fuel grades that meet the requirements of European standards (EN).
Type
Gasoline engines - Unleaded gasoline AI-95, AI-98 (Standard EN 228: S - super, SP - super plus).
Note: In the absence of unleaded fuel grade «super» 91 octane fuel can be used, avoiding high engine loads and full vehicle loads, as well as driving in the mountains with a trailer or with a high load - this reduces engine power and torque. Knock regulator depending on the type of fuel filled (its octane number) automatically adjusts the ignition system. Note: Engines adjusted at the factory for operation on AI-95 gasoline can also be operated on AI-98 gasoline without restrictions, however, this will not lead to an improvement in the economy or performance of the vehicle.
Diesel engines - Diesel fuel with a cetane rating of at least 49 (EN 590 standard)
Note: When using winter grades of diesel fuel, this value may be lower.
Due to the design features of diesel engines equipped with a «Common Rail», high demands are placed on the quality of the fuel used. You must use fuel that fully complies with the EN 590 standard, otherwise, if the engine fails, this vehicle will not be covered by the warranty. The Russian Federation is one of the regions where a number of fuels offered do not comply with the EN 590 standard and special care is required when choosing a fuel.

Engine oil
Type
Corsa C/Combo manufactured before 08/2003 - Fully synthetic ACEA AZ/VZ specification engine oil.
Corsa C/Combo from 09/2003 and Meriva:
- Gasoline engines - Oil Opel GM-LL-A-025 (SAE 5W-30)
- Diesel engines - Oil Opel GM-LL-B-025 (SAE 10W-30)
Decryption:
- GM — General Motors
- LL — Long-Life
- A, B - engine oil quality specification
- 025 - motor oil classification action index, here MJ2002.5 - spring 2002. Oils with a higher index are allowed.
Note: On Corsa C/Combo models manufactured since 09/2003 and Meriva, it is allowed to add no more than 1 liter of ACEA-AZ/B3 category oil to the system between oil changes, without reducing the oil change interval. If for any reason more than 1 liter of oil of the specified quality category has been charged into the system, the interval until the next oil change must be reduced.

Cooling system
Coolant type
Only red must be used (dark orange), silicate-free antifreeze recommended by Opel - the number 19 40 650/09 194 431 must be indicated on the label. Note: The color of the antifreeze may change to yellow during prolonged use. This does not affect the properties of the coolant and you can continue to use it until the next scheduled maintenance. Attention: Never use green-blue antifreezes/antifreezes containing silicate in the cooling system!
Coolant Composition
Caution: Adding any additives to antifreeze (including to seal the system and eliminate small leaks) unacceptable!
The table shows the proportions of antifreeze concentrate and clean, lime-free drinking water for self-preparation of coolant from antifreeze concentrate:
Protection up to | Antifreeze | Water |
-30°C | 40% | 60% |
-40°С | 50% | 50% |
Recommended year-round use of the mixture in a ratio of 1:1 - 50% water and 50% antifreeze concentrate. Too much antifreeze (55% or more) degrades the performance of the coolant. During scheduled maintenance when preparing the car for winter operation, if the coolant has not been drained and any parts of the cooling system have not been replaced before, you can restore the required coolant concentration using the data in the table below:
Attention: Density measurements and its adjustment must be carried out at a coolant temperature of +20°C, otherwise the data given in the table will not correspond to reality.
Example: If the measured value of the density of the coolant filled into the system, for example, on the Z12XE engine (without air conditioning), corresponds to the value of the minimum outside air temperature for the operation of the car -10°C, it is necessary to drain / pump out 1.5 liters of liquid from the cooling system and fill in pure antifreeze concentrate in the same volume instead (1.5 l). This will increase the density of the liquid to a value that allows you to operate the car without restrictions at outdoor temperatures down to -30°C. If necessary, operate the vehicle at lower temperatures (up to -40°C) it is necessary to replace 1.8 liters of liquid with the corresponding volume of concentrate.
