Type, properties and volumes of working fluids
Fuel
Warning: Use of leaded gasoline and abuse of fuel additives may result in failure of the catalytic converter of exhaust gases, non-compliance with toxicity requirements of the exhaust and engine failure. On diesel models, under no circumstances use additives for winter operation that increase fuel fluidity. If these requirements are not met, in the event of engine failure, the manufacturer's warranty obligations do not apply to this vehicle!
The engines of the Opel model range are designed for fuel grades that meet the requirements of European standards (EN).
Type
Gasoline engines - Unleaded gasoline AI-95, AI-98 (Standard EN 228: S - super, SP - super plus).
Note: If unleaded super fuel is not available, fuel with an octane rating of 91 can be used, avoiding high engine loads and full vehicle loading, as well as driving in the mountains with a trailer or with a heavy load - this will reduce engine power and torque. Knock controller depending on the type of fuel filled (its octane number) automatically adjusts the ignition system. Note: Engines adjusted at the manufacturer to run on gasoline with an octane rating of AI-95 can be used without restrictions on gasoline AI-98, but this will not improve the economy or performance of the car.
Diesel engines - Diesel fuel with a cetane number of at least 49 (Standard EN 590)
Note: When using winter grades of diesel fuel, this value may be lower.
Due to the design features of diesel engines equipped with a system "Common Rail", high demands are placed on the quality of the fuel used. It is necessary to fill up with fuel that fully complies with the EN 590 standard, otherwise, if the engine fails, the warranty obligations for this vehicle will not apply. The Russian Federation is one of the regions where a number of the offered fuels do not comply with the EN 590 standard and special care is required when choosing fuel.

Note: On Corsa C/Combo models from 09/2003 and Meriva, no more than 1 litre of ACEA-A3/B3 oil may be added to the system between oil changes, without reducing the oil change interval. If for any reason more than 1 litre of oil of the specified quality category has been added to the system, the interval to the next oil change must be reduced.

Cooling system
Coolant type
Only red should be used (dark orange), silicate-free antifreeze recommended for use by Opel - the label must indicate the number 19 40 650/09 194 431. Note: During prolonged use, the color of the antifreeze may change to yellow. This does not affect the properties of the coolant and you can continue to use it until the next scheduled maintenance. Attention: Never use green-blue antifreezes/antifreezes containing silicate in the cooling system!
Coolant composition
Caution: Adding any additives to antifreeze (including for sealing the system and eliminating minor leaks) unacceptable!
The table shows the proportions of antifreeze concentrate and clean, lime-free drinking water for self-preparation of coolant from antifreeze concentrate:

It is recommended to use a mixture in a 1:1 ratio of 50% water and 50% antifreeze concentrate all year round. Excessive concentration of antifreeze (55% or more) worsens the performance properties of the coolant. During routine maintenance when preparing the car for winter operation, if the coolant has not been drained or any parts of the cooling system have not been replaced, the required concentration of the coolant can be restored using the data in the table below:
Attention: Density measurements and adjustments must be made at a coolant temperature of +20°C, otherwise the data given in the table will not correspond to reality.
Example: If the measured value of the density of the coolant filled into the system, for example, on the Z12XE engine (without air conditioning), corresponds to the minimum permissible value for operating the vehicle at an outside air temperature of -10°C, it is necessary to drain/pump out 1.5 liters of liquid from the cooling system and fill it with pure antifreeze concentrate in the same volume (1.5 liters). This will increase the density of the liquid to a value that allows the vehicle to be operated without restrictions at outside air temperatures down to -30°C. If it is necessary to operate the vehicle at lower temperatures (down to -40°C), it is necessary to replace 1.8 liters of liquid with the corresponding volume of concentrate.
