At the beginning of the Chapter there is a schedule of routine maintenance of the vehicle (see Section 1). Below are Sections for the reader's attention, dedicated to a detailed description of the order of execution of each of the maintenance procedures separately. The material of the Sections includes descriptions of visual inspections, adjustments, procedures for removing and installing components, as well as various useful tips and recommendations.
The proposed recommendations provide for independent implementation of relatively simple and not requiring special training procedures for servicing the car by its owner. Maintenance work should be carried out regularly in strict accordance with the description of their implementation given in the following sections, which will ensure the long-term and reliable service of the vehicle. Remember that maintenance is a comprehensive program and the implementation of only individual points while neglecting others will not lead to the desired result.

In the process of servicing your vehicle, the reader will soon see that many procedures can, and should, be grouped together because of their similar nature or proximity to each other. For example, if the vehicle is raised off the ground for any reason, you should take advantage of the opportunity to check the condition of the exhaust system components, suspension, and steering. Also, rent a torque wrench and check the tightening force of all accessible threaded fasteners. When rotating the wheels, also assess the condition of the brakes and wheel bearings.
The first step in servicing a vehicle is always self-preparation by the performer. Carefully read the material in this Chapter, then make a list of components that require attention, prepare the necessary tools, and sketch out a brief plan of the upcoming work.
If you detect extraneous sounds (noises), vibrations or smells, you need to determine their cause or contact a service station, where they will do it faster and better. In addition, contact service station specialists if you think that your car needs repairs.
The authors of the Manual strongly recommend that you observe safety precautions when performing inspection and maintenance work on the vehicle, strictly follow the recommendations below. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in serious injury or damage to the vehicle.
Before starting work/Safety requirements
During the work, it is necessary to choose a flat horizontal area for parking the car. The car must be kept from rolling by the parking brake and anti-roll shoes installed. If it is necessary to move the car during the work, to avoid locking the steering wheel, leave the key in the ignition (position I), but do not remove the wheel chocks completely, but only move them away to a distance sufficient for the vehicle to move.
To prevent damage to electrical and electronic equipment, and to avoid electric shock, always turn off the ignition when performing work. Never connect/disconnect the battery or semiconductor devices with the ignition on! If the car was used immediately before servicing, allow the engine to cool down before starting work in the engine compartment.
Never work under a vehicle that is supported only by a jack. Always use special stands and supports.
Do not bring lighted cigarettes, matches or other open flames near fuel containers or battery vents.
Servicing of fuel filters or fuel lines on vehicles equipped with a fuel injection system should preferably be carried out only in a service station. The fuel system is under constant high internal pressure, even when the engine is turned off - special equipment will be required to relieve the pressure (see Chapter 4). If it is necessary to perform work on a running engine, exercise special caution! Make sure that your hands, clothes, hair and tools are at a sufficient distance from the fan, drive belts and other rotating parts. It is advisable to remove your tie, wristwatch, rings and other jewelry before starting work.
If the engine must be started in a closed space(for example, in the garage), make sure that the exhaust gas exhaust ventilation system is functioning properly.
Attention: Always follow the rules for disposal of used oil and/or other operating fluids, do not harm the environment!
