Checking the condition of the timing belt and rollers (Opel Corsa C)

            0

1. Scheduled replacement of the toothed belt and tension roller is carried out in accordance with the Maintenance Schedule (see Section 1). The operations for removing/installing the belt and rollers are described in Chapter 2.

2. These parts must also be replaced if the following defects and malfunctions are detected during their inspection:
  • Distinct noise from the idler/tensioner roller bearing both with and without the timing belt installed;
  • When the belt is removed, the rollers produce a large number of revolutions when slightly pushed;
  • Excessive oiling of rollers due to damage to bearing seals;
  • Detection of traces of sand, dust or salt water on the working surfaces of the toothed belt, guide/tension roller;
  • The toothed belt was found to have cuts or transverse tears in the top layer, lateral thickenings, abrasions and signs of wear on the sidewalls, cracks in the base of the belt, delamination, traces of oil and grease.
