Fuel Filter Replacement - Petrol Models
Attention: When carrying out filter replacement work, observe fire safety measures with flammable substances! Do not use open flames and do not allow smoking near the workplace! Keep a fire extinguisher handy!
1. The fuel filter is located on the bottom of the car on the left (in the direction of the car), next to the fuel tank.
2. Depressurize the fuel supply system before starting work (see chapter 4).
3. Place the car on stands or hang out using a lift. Place a suitable container under the fuel filter to collect the escaping fuel. On Corsa-Eco models, remove the spoiler from the bottom of the car (see chapter 11).
4. Mark, for example, the inlet and outlet fuel lines with insulating tape - the direction of fuel flow is indicated by an arrow on the filter.
5. With a special tool (e.g. Hazet 4501-1 pliers) disconnect the quick connectors (see resist. illustration) fuel lines and remove both hoses. Cover connections with rags to avoid spilling fuel when removing hoses.
20.5. Fuel filter (4) (petrol models): 1, 2. Quick connectors; 3. Holder screw
6. Remove the fixing screw (see illustration 20.5) and remove the filter from the holder. Be careful - the fuel filter is filled with gasoline, place it in a specially prepared container.
7. Before installing a new filter, reposition the clips of the quick couplings on it (see resist. illustration). Install the fuel filter in the holder and tighten the screw - the direction of the arrow on the filter housing must match the direction of fuel flow (from tank to engine compartment).
20.7. Install new fuel filter clips (1) quick couplings
8. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. At the end of the work, take a short trip and check the fuel supply system for leaks.
