Replacing the Fuel Filter - Petrol Models

Caution: When replacing the filter, observe fire safety measures with flammable substances! Do not use open flames or allow smoking near the workplace! Keep a fire extinguisher handy!

1. The fuel filter is located on the bottom of the car on the left (in the direction of the vehicle's movement), next to the fuel tank.

2. Before starting work, release the pressure in the fuel supply system (see Chapter 4).

3. Place the car on stands or lift it up. Place a suitable container under the fuel filter to collect any leaking fuel. On Corsa-Eco models, remove the spoiler from the underbody of the car (see Chapter 11).

4. Mark the fuel inlet and outlet lines, for example, with insulating tape - the direction of fuel flow is indicated on the filter by an arrow.

5. Using a special device (for example, Hazet 4501-1 pliers) disconnect the quick-release couplings (see accompanying illustration) fuel lines and remove both hoses. To avoid fuel spillage, cover the connections with a rag when removing the hoses.





6. Remove the mounting screw (see illustration 20.5) and remove the filter from the holder. Be careful - the fuel filter is filled with gasoline, place it in a specially prepared container.

7. Before installing a new filter, reposition the quick-release clamps on it (see accompanying illustration). Install the fuel filter into the holder and tighten the screw - the direction of the arrow on the filter housing must match the direction of fuel flow (from tank to engine compartment).

8. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. After completing the work, take a short trip and check the fuel supply system for leaks.
