Note: This section describes the removal/installation/adjustment procedure using the front side door as an example. The corresponding operations for the rear doors are performed in a similar manner.
Removal and installation
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery (see Chapter 5).
2. Open the door and disconnect the electrical wiring connector (see accompanying illustration), turning it counterclockwise.
17.2. Fastening the side door: 1. Electrical wiring connector; 2. Limiter mounting screw; 3. Rubber cap; 4. Hinge mounting axis
3. Remove the mounting screw and detach the door travel limiter from the body pillar (see illustration 17.2).
4. Remove the rubber caps from the door hinges at the top and bottom (see illustration 17.2). Ask an assistant to hold the door and use a special Hazet-1970 tool or a metal mandrel to knock out the door hinge axes. Remove the door.
Note: The blows should be applied to the side of the axle that was covered by the rubber cap.
5. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Before installation, lubricate the door mounting axles with a special lubricant. After installing the door, make the appropriate adjustments (see below).
Adjustment
6. Remove the lock bracket (see accompanying illustration).
17.6. Screws (1) for fastening the side door lock bracket
7. Close the door and check the gap between the adjacent body elements (see Specifications). The tailgate is adjusted correctly if, in the closed position, there is a uniform gap around the entire perimeter, and the door is flush with the surrounding body surfaces. The front edge of the tailgate may be located deeper than the rear edge of the front door by no more than 1 mm.
8. If necessary, adjust the door. To do this, loosen the screws that secure the door hinges to the body. The door is aligned in the body opening by shifting/bending the door hinges. This operation requires a certain amount of experience, so it is recommended to entrust it to a specialist. A special tool is used to bend the hinges, for example, Hazet-1931 and Hazet-1973-X.
9. Replace the side door lock bracket and tighten its mounting bolts by hand. Carefully, observing the set gaps, close the side door, while the lock bracket will take the desired position. Carefully open the door and tighten the bracket mounting screws to the required force.
10. Close and open the door several times, check its position and ease of closing/opening, repeat the adjustment if necessary.
Rear sliding door (corsa Combo models)
11. To remove the rear sliding door, unbolt the support elements from the lower and central guides and remove the door with the help of an assistant.
