The Tire Pressure Loss Monitoring System continuously monitors the speed of all wheels. When pressure drops in one of the tires, the diameter of this wheel decreases, and it rotates faster than the other wheels - the corresponding warning lamp should light up on the instrument cluster (in red) (see Section 16). In this case, immediately pull off the road in a safe place, stop and check the tire pressure. If necessary, replace the damaged wheel with a spare.
The system is activated after the ignition is switched on and can detect a pressure drop at a speed of 30 km/h or more.
Attention: The tire pressure drop monitoring system does not replace manual control with a calibrated pressure gauge!
After adjusting the tire pressure, as well as after changing a tire or wheel, the system must be initialized by pressing the appropriate switch - see Section 17.
Note: The system can only be initialized if the prescribed air pressure is maintained in all tires (see specs).
Option B
The tire pressure monitoring system continuously monitors the air pressure and speed of all four wheels while driving. Each wheel has a built-in pressure sensor. Sensors take pressure readings in each tire every minute and transmit them to the control unit. If one or more tires deviate from the specified pressure values, a corresponding message is displayed on the information display (see below).
Note: Current tire pressures can be displayed on the graphic information display on models equipped with an on-board computer (see Section 17).
DDS functions when all four wheel sensors are in good condition and all tires are inflated to the prescribed pressure. The system automatically determines the change in tire pressure depending on the degree of vehicle loading.
The system is activated after switching on the ignition and allows you to control the air pressure in the tires at a speed of 30 km / h and above.
Attention: The tire pressure monitoring system does not replace manual control with a calibrated pressure gauge!
If the vehicle is equipped with a set of tires that are not equipped with appropriate sensors, the tire pressure drop control will be carried out as in the above system (option A).
Warning messages
Depending on the version, messages can be displayed in the information display using abbreviations. To remove a warning message from the display screen, you must confirm receipt by pressing the appropriate button (see Section 17).
The following are examples of informational messages:
«Tyre pressure check rear leftturn (value in bar)» (see illustration 27.1) - the graphical information display will simultaneously display a diagram showing the rear left wheel and the current tire pressure.
Note: On the color information display, this message appears on a yellow background.
If there is a slight deviation in pressure, it is necessary to reduce the speed of movement and, being careful, you can continue driving - at the earliest opportunity, check the tire pressure with a verified pressure gauge and, if necessary, make appropriate adjustments,
«Attention! Front left tyre pressure loss (value in bar)» - the graphic information display will simultaneously display a diagram showing the front left wheel and the current tire pressure.
Note: On the color information display, this message appears on a red background.
This message warns of a significant deviation or a complete drop in air pressure in the tire - get the car out of traffic as soon as possible without disturbing other cars, stop and check the tires! Install a spare wheel if necessary (see Introduction), or have the tire repaired.
In addition, the corresponding indicator lamp will light up in the instrument cluster (see Section 16). If the lamp illuminates amber while driving, this indicates a problem with the tire pressure monitoring system.
Note: System failure can be caused, among other things, by installing a wheel without a pressure sensor.
After adjusting the tire pressure, and after changing a tire or wheel, the system must be initialized by pressing the appropriate switch - see Section 17.
Note: The system can only be initialized if the prescribed air pressure is maintained in all tires (see specs).
General instructions for operating the system (option B)
- The spare wheel is not equipped with a pressure sensor - when using it, the tire pressure monitoring system does not function - a warning lamp (see Section 16) glows yellow. The display shows the tire pressure symbol instead of the tire pressure value and is monitored in the tire pressure drop monitoring mode (see above).
- When using a complete set of wheels not equipped with tire pressure monitoring system sensors (e.g. when installing a set of winter tires), no error message is displayed. Tire pressure monitoring system does not function - air pressure will be monitored in tire pressure loss monitoring mode (see above).
- At the request of the user (with appropriate vehicle equipment) Tire pressure monitoring system sensors can be installed on wheels that are not equipped with them - contact an Opel workshop.
- To manually check the tire pressure using a pressure gauge, you need to screw a special adapter / special universal device onto the valve, stored in a clip on the inside of the fuel filler cap.
- At each tire change, the valve spools and o-rings of the tire pressure monitoring system should be replaced - contact an Opel workshop.
- When using commercially available liquid tire pressure systems or repair kits, system malfunctions are possible - consult an Opel workshop beforehand.
- Nearby radio transmitters (e.g. radio headphones, cordless telephones), may cause system malfunctions.
