Removal and installation of interior trim elements — Station wagon models (Opel Astra H)

Note: On these models, the A-pillar, B-pillar and sill trim are removed in the same way as on the Hatchback models (see Section 44).


Caution: On models equipped with head air bags, observe the appropriate safety precautions (see Chapter "Controls and operating techniques", Sections 13 and 16)!

Upper section trim pillar C



1. Disconnect the wires and insulate the battery terminals (see Chapter 5).

2. Remove the rear ceiling trim (see below).

3. Remove the D-pillar trim (see below).

4. Fold down the rear bench seat back. Remove the luggage compartment side trim and the lower section of the C-pillar trim (see below).

5. Disconnect the lower anchor of the appropriate seat belt from the C-pillar.

6. Using a screwdriver, pry up the service cover of the upper section of the C-pillar trim and carefully separate it by gradually moving the screwdriver along the perimeter of the cover. Insert a plastic wedge under the trim and separate it from the pillar.

7. Pull the seat belt out of the guide and remove the upper section of the C-pillar trim.

8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, making sure that the inner edge of the seal is on top of the trim. Tighten the seat belt fastening screw with the required force, having previously lubricated its thread with a fixing compound. Check that the belt strap is not twisted and can be freely wound on the drum. Check the operation of the belt (see Chapter "Controls and operating techniques").



Lower C-pillar trim section (models Universal)



9. Fold down the rear bench seat back.

10. Press down the 3 latches (see accompanying illustration) and separate the bottom section of the trim from the post, then remove the trim by pulling it upwards out of the door frame.

11. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, making sure that the inner edge of the seal is on top of the trim.

Side trim of the luggage compartment



16. Fold the rear bench seat back forward.

17. Open the tailgate, press the fasteners and remove the luggage compartment ceiling trim.

18. Unscrew the 2 plugs at the front of the luggage compartment floor cover and remove it.

19. Remove the tailgate sill trim (see below) then remove the C and D pillar trim (see above).

20. Remove the 2 top screws (see accompanying illustration) trim fasteners, then unscrew the guide mounting screws and remove the guides from the sides of the luggage compartment.

21. Press the 4 fasteners and separate the trim panel from the side.

22. Disconnect the luggage compartment light wiring connector from the back of the trim panel and remove the panel.

23. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, making sure that the inner edge of the seal is on top of the trim.

Rear ceiling trim



24. Open the tailgate.

25. Using a plastic wedge, press the 3 fasteners and release the rear ceiling trim (see accompanying illustration) from two guides (right and left) and take it off.

26. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. The trim must fit precisely into the guides of the D-pillar (left and right).



Tailgate threshold trim



27. Open the tailgate.

28. Remove the 4 mounting screws from the luggage compartment side and remove the tailgate sill trim.

29. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, making sure that the inner edge of the seal is on top of the trim.
