Removal and installation a hydraulic shock absorber (station wagon) (Opel Kadett D)

Removal



Raise the car.

Raise the rear suspension bracket slightly with a hydraulic lift. Unscrew the shock absorber nut, remove the cup and rubber buffer.

Remove the shock absorber from the holder.

Remove the shock absorber from the holder.


Unscrew and remove the hex nut securing the shock absorber to the body.

For vehicles with adjustable ride height



Unscrew the union nut and disconnect the pressure line from the shock absorber. Raise the rear suspension bracket with a hydraulic lift and unscrew the hex nut of the shock absorber holder.

Installation



Before installation, check the shock absorber, see item 12.4.

Replace the broken rubber buffer. Use a new shock absorber only with new rubber buffers.

Insert the shock absorber into the body, tighten the hex nut to 45 Nm.

Insert the shock absorber with the cup and rubber buffer into the bracket holder and secure it there. Install the hex nut on the adjustable size A = 8 mm.

Set the installation dimension A = 6 mm.

Screw on the pressure pipe and union nut with a torque of 3 Nm.

Screw on the pressure pipe and union nut with a torque of 3 Nm.


Pump the system to a pressure of 80 kPa (0.8 atm) through the valve.

Lower the car.
