Removing
Loosen wheel bolts. Raise the car.
Remove wheel.
Pull out the brake pads see 16.9.
Remove the brake drum retaining screw.
Remove dust cover with a screwdriver.
Loosen the pin nut and unscrew.
Remove the hub with washer from the wheel stub.
Clean the pin and check it for damage, otherwise replace it.
Remove the seal from the hub.
Remove the inner tapered roller bearing from the hub.
Press out the outer race of the inner bearing using a suitable tool.
Press out the outer bearing race with a suitable tool.
If there is no pressing tool at hand, then the clips can be carefully knocked out with a brass punch.
Installation
Rinse all parts thoroughly with gasoline, lubricate the bearings with grease (OPEL №1946254/90001820).
Press the outer race of the outer bearing into the hub with a suitable tool or a pipe of suitable diameter.
Press the outer race of the inner bearing into the hub using a suitable tool.
Insert a greased comic roller bearing into the hub.
Lubricate the hub cavity with grease.
Lubricate the new seal with grease.
Press the oil seal into the hub using a suitable bushing.
If there is no press, then you can carefully drive the oil seal with a suitable bushing. Screw on the hub nut.
Put on the brake drum and secure with a bolt.
Install the rear wheel.
Attention: This does not apply to vehicles with light metal rims.
Adjust bearing play see point 13.4.
Adjust rear brakes.
Lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel bolts crosswise to 90 Nm.
Install rear wheel brake see 16.7.
