Brakes with manual adjustment (up to 8/83)
In principle, you need to change all the pads of one suspension, even if only one pad is worn out or salted.
Remove brake drum.
Remove the brake shoe return spring using a suitable collet, eg HAZET #797.
Only for sedan model
Press the brake pads outward and remove the pressure rod.
Remove the lower brake shoe spring.
Disconnect the handbrake cable from the brake shoe lever.
Remove both brake pads.
Only for station wagon model
Compress the fixing clips of the brake shoes with a collet and install them into the holes of the brake shield.
Press the fixing clips of the brake shoes completely through the holes in the brake shield.
Press the brake pads outward and remove the pressure rod.
Remove the lower brake shoe spring.
Disconnect the handbrake cable from the brake shoe lever.
Installation
In principle, brake pads of the same quality should be used. If possible, blow out the brake drum and brake shield with compressed air.
When the brake pads are removed, do not press the brake pedal, because. otherwise the piston will fall out of the wheel cylinder. If the cylinder is leaking, it should be repaired. If the brake drum has grooves, then it must be turned.
Apply a thin coat of lubricant before installing brake pads (OPEL ET №1942586/90166282) on the brake shield in the area where the brake pads fit.
Only for gray model
Connect the handbrake cable to the brake shoe lever.
Install the brake pads into the retaining springs.
Install push rod.
Install the lower brake shoe spring.
Using a collet, install the brake shoe return spring.
Only for station wagon model
Position the brake pads on the brake plate in such a way that the brake pads themselves rest on the piston of the wheel brake cylinder.
Insert a new brake shoe fixing clip through the hole in the brake shoe and brake shield. Make sure the fixing clip is in the correct position.
Connect the handbrake cable to the brake shoe lever on which the brake shoes are installed, make sure that the cable is routed correctly.
Install push rod.
Install the lower brake shoe spring.
Install the brake shoe return spring using a collet.
Install the brake drum and fix the set screw.
Install the rear wheels, follow the marks.
Adjust the brake system with foot pedal control, adjust the hand brake.
Lower vehicle, tighten wheel bolts crosswise to 90 Nm.
