Rear brake adjustment (Opel Kadett D)

            0

Every 15,000 km or if the free travel of the brake pedal exceeds 3 cm, the rear brakes must be adjusted.

Note: Since August 1983, vehicles have been equipped with an automatic rear brake shoe adjustment device. In this case, the rear brakes do not need to be adjusted.

Raise the rear of the vehicle.

Each brake shoe is adjusted separately. In Swedish-made cars, the installation is automatic.

Each brake shoe is adjusted separately. In Swedish-made cars, the installation is automatic.

Rotate the eccentric with a curved ring and a 17 mm wrench to install it on the brake shield so that the wheel rotates with difficulty, i.e. the pads fit against the drum.

Then slowly rotate the eccentric back until the wheel can be rotated freely by hand.

Then install the second shoe in the same way.

Check the handbrake adjustment.

Lower the car.

Caution: For vehicles with automatic rear brake adjustment, press the brake pedal hard several times until no more clicking sounds are heard from the rear brakes. The brake pedal should be pressed more than 10 times.
