Coolant Density Check
The density of the coolant is checked with the onset of stable cold weather, using a special hydrometer. To check the density, contact an Opel car service. The concentration of antifreeze must be such that the freezing point of the liquid is not higher than -30°C. Insufficient concentration of antifreeze leads to a loss of anti-corrosion properties, a decrease in the frost resistance of the liquid.
If water was added to the cooling system, then the concentration of antifreeze should be checked and, if necessary, restored.
Check coolant level
On a cold engine, the fluid level in the expansion tank should be slightly above the KALT mark ("cold").
As a rule, when operating a car, topping up fluid is not required.
On a cold engine, unscrew the reservoir cap and add antifreeze (in the absence of antifreeze, you can add water and subsequently check the density of the liquid in a car service). Screw the cap on the tank up to the stop.
Liquid temperature
The temperature of the liquid is determined by the pointer. The pointer turns off when the level falls below normal. If the pointer arrow enters the red scale area, then the fluid level should be checked immediately.
If the level has dropped, then add fluid and eliminate the cause by contacting a car service.
If the level is normal, then you should contact a car service to diagnose the car's systems.
