On vehicles with a neutralizer or automatic transmission, starting the engine by towing is prohibited.

Move the automatic transmission selector to position P; on models with a manual transmission, set the lever to neutral.

1. Connect the terminal of one of the cables to the positive pole of the additional (starting) battery (1).
2. Connect the other terminal of the jumper cable to the positive pole of the discharged battery (2).
3. Connect the cable terminal to the negative pole of the booster battery (3).
4. Connect the other terminal of the cable to a well-cleaned area of the ground (4). For example, a bolt or bracket on the cylinder block of the engine being started (but not with the negative pole of a discharged battery!).
5. Make sure that the jumper cables are located at a sufficient distance from the fan, belts and other moving engine parts and cannot come into contact with them.
6. Start the engine from the booster battery (the engine of the second car should be idling). Switch the started engine to idle mode for about 3 minutes and disconnect the cables in exactly the reverse order.
