Instruction. There may be drops on the cooling pump vents, and there may be traces of coolant evaporation in the engine compartment, while there should not be a measurable leak of coolant in the reservoir.
ONS engine
Removing
Set the piston of cylinder 1 to the ignition position, see point 1.3.
Drain the coolant into a container.
shine V-belt, see point 22.3.
Unscrew the cooling pump.
Remove toothed belt see point 1.3.
Unscrew the lower toothed belt cover.
Remove the cooling pump.
Installation
To prevent corrosion of the coolant pump, coat both the seal surfaces on the engine block and the gasket on the coolant pump housing -arrow- with silicone sealant.
Insert a new gasket and coolant pump into the engine block.
Caution: Tighten screws only by hand. Install rear toothed belt cover.
Fit and tighten toothed belt see point 1.3.
Tighten the coolant pump housing. Tightening torque 1.2-/1.3-/1.4-l engines 8 Nm, 1.6-/1.8-l engines 25 Nm.
Insert and tighten the V-belt, see point 22.3.
Install the front toothed belt cover.
Fill with coolant.
OHV engine
Removing
Drain and collect coolant see point 3.2.
Remove the upper and lower coolant hoses, as well as the heater hose from the water pump.
Loosen the water pump pulley screws.
Remove the alternator tensioner.
Remove V-belt.
Remove the V-belt pulley from the water pump.
Unscrew the water pump from the cylinder head.
Clean mating surfaces.
Installation
Install a new gasket with a small amount of grease.
Screw on and tighten the water pump to 8 Nm.
Put on and tighten the V-belt, see point 22.2.
Install the upper and lower coolant hoses and the heater hose to the water pump.
Fill in coolant see point 3.2.
