Precautionary measures:
- All checks in the engine bay (brake fluid or oil levels) carried out only after the ignition is switched off.
- Please note that the cooling fan is triggered by a thermal switch, and therefore may turn on even when the ignition is off.
- Do not attempt repairs or adjustments and maintenance yourself. This applies in particular to the engine, chassis and safety systems.
The oil filler cap, coolant reservoir cap, windshield and headlight washer fluid reservoir cap, and oil gauge knob are yellow.
Engine oil
Only all-weather Opel brand oil is poured into the engine.
It is also possible to use HD oil of the appropriate viscosity (by SAE) and quality (by ACEA and API).
Oil should be selected using ACEA and API classifications.
It is also allowed to fill the engine with oils of those grades that, according to the manufacturer's guarantee, can be used on Opel cars.
Engine oil level
The oil level is checked every 500 km (except for vehicles equipped with an oil level sensor), or before a long trip.
On vehicles equipped with an oil level sensor, a warning lamp is provided.
To check the oil level, park the vehicle on a level surface and stop the engine. After stopping the engine, wait at least 2 minutes.
To check the level, remove the level indicator, wipe it clean and reinsert it to the maximum depth. If the level is near mark A, then it is necessary to add oil.
The oil level must not be above mark B on the dipstick.
The brand of oil to be added must correspond to the brand of the oil that was filled into the engine during the last change.
Stable oil consumption is observed only after several thousand kilometers.
Changing the oil and oil filter
With use, the oil loses its properties and must be replaced. Oil and filter changes are carried out at the interval specified by the manufacturer.
Use Opel oil filters.
It is recommended to change the oil and filter in a car service.
