Fuel



Petrol models - Unleaded petrol no worse than AI-95

Diesel models - Diesel fuel with a cetane number of at least 49

Operation of diesel models in winter conditions



When using summer diesel fuel at temperatures below 0°C, engine misfires may occur due to increased fuel viscosity resulting from paraffin formation.

At sub-zero temperatures, special "winter" diesel fuel should be used. Depending on the brand, winter fuel ensures uninterrupted operation at temperatures from -15°C to -22°C.

The use of gasoline and similar thinners as additives to diesel fuel is not permitted!


If the fuel quality is low, the fuel filter may need to be replaced more often than specified in the maintenance schedule.

Specific fuel consumption/CO₂ emissions



Since 1996, the regulation 80/1268/EEC, in its latest modification 1999/100/EG, has been in force for determining fuel consumption.

The manual is based on real traffic conditions: city driving is assessed with a coefficient of 1/3, and outside it: 2/3, taking into account cold starts and acceleration phases. An integral part of the manual is the indication of the mandatory publication of carbon dioxide emissions (CO 2).

Given in the Specifications to Chapter User manual the data are only indicative. When determining fuel consumption according to standard 1999/100/EC, the tare weight of the vehicle, determined according to the same instructions, is taken into account. Equipping the vehicle with additional devices and units leads to a change in weight, which inevitably also affects the amount of fuel consumption and CO 2 emissions.




The first letter in the engine type designation indicates compliance with the established emission standard (X: 1996, petrol models: D3, D4, diesel models: Euro2; Y: 1998, Petrol models: D4, Euro3, Diesel models: Euro3; Z: 1998, petrol models: Euro4, Level B).

Petrol models

Engines 1.6L SOHC - Multec Central Injection System

1.4 and 1.6 L DOHC engines - Multec S distributed injection system

1.8 and 2.0 L DOHC engines - Simtec 70 distributed injection system

Diesel models

All models come standard with a high-pressure system (y20DTH engines)/low pressure (other engines) turbocharging.


1.7L SOHC engine — EDC MSA 15M pre-chamber injection system with VP29 distributor-type fuel injection pump and electronic control. All models come standard with a turbocharger intercooler (intercooler).

1.7L DOHC engine — EDC V5 direct injection system with distributor-type fuel injection pump, electronic control, built-in NipponDenso V5 boost pump and two-stage injectors. All models come standard with a turbocharger intercooler (intercooler).

2.0 l engine — EDC 15M direct injection system with VP44 distributor-type fuel injection pump and electronic control. Intercooler is installed on models with high-pressure turbocharging.
