- Standard set of locksmith tools;
- Torque wrench with 1/2-inch drive;
- Tool for putting on piston rings;
- Tool for crimping piston rings;
- Short lengths of fuel hose for fitting rod bearing caps onto studs;
- Measuring set Plastigage;
- A set of blade type probes;
- File with a small tooth;
- Fresh motor oil;
- Assembly motor or molybdenum-containing lubricant;
- gasket sealant;
- Sealant for fixing threaded connections.
At this stage, all components to be installed must be absolutely clean and dry. For convenience, lay out the parts on a clean surface in the order of installation.
To save time and minimize problems, assemble the engine in the following order:
Gasoline engines
1. Piston rings;
2. Crankshaft and main bearings;
3. Connecting rod and piston assemblies;
4. Oil pump with oil pickup tube (see Procedures for repairing SOHC gasoline engines without removing them from the vehicle or In-Vehicle DOHC Gasoline Engine Repair Procedures);
5. Balancing Assembly / Main Bearing Bridge (depending on the configuration, if provided)
6. Oil pan (including oil baffle plate if provided) (see Procedures for repairing SOHC gasoline engines without removing them from the vehicle or In-Vehicle DOHC Gasoline Engine Repair Procedures);
7. Flywheel / drive disc (see Procedures for repairing SOHC gasoline engines without removing them from the vehicle);
8. Cylinder head with camshaft (And) and valve drive components (see Procedures for repairing SOHC gasoline engines without removing them from the vehicle or In-Vehicle DOHC Gasoline Engine Repair Procedures);
9. Timing mechanism housing and its cover (see Procedures for repairing SOHC gasoline engines without removing them from the vehicle or In-Vehicle DOHC Gasoline Engine Repair Procedures);
10. Water pump (see chapter Cooling, heating systems);
11. Rear timing cover (see Procedures for repairing SOHC gasoline engines without removing them from the vehicle or In-Vehicle DOHC Gasoline Engine Repair Procedures);
12. Timing drive components (see Procedures for repairing SOHC gasoline engines without removing them from the vehicle or In-Vehicle DOHC Gasoline Engine Repair Procedures);
13. Front Timing Covers (see Procedures for repairing SOHC gasoline engines without removing them from the vehicle or In-Vehicle DOHC Gasoline Engine Repair Procedures);
14. Inlet pipeline and exhaust manifold (see chapter Power and exhaust systems);
15. Mounted units;
16. Protective cover of the engine (with appropriate equipment).
