Before installing the drive shaft, make sure that the contact surfaces of the drive shaft and the road wheel bearing are absolutely clean.
Apply grease containing molybdenum disulphide to the splines of the input shaft, then insert the outer end of the shaft into the hub. Install a new gasket and tighten the new hub nut by hand.
Install a new circlip on the inner end of the input shaft, then remove the plug from the differential hole and insert the input shaft into the differential as far as possible.
Place a screwdriver on the weld on the inner joint of the input shaft and insert the input shaft into the differential until the retaining rings snap into place. Check the ball joint of the suspension strut and the lower arm, then the castle nut and tighten it to the required torque. Secure the nut with a new cotter pin.
Tighten the new hub nut to specifications in stages. To prevent the drive shaft from turning, fix it in the same way as during removal.
Install the road wheel, lower the front of the car to the ground.
Check and, if necessary, top up the transmission fluid/oil.
On models equipped with a dual race engine, install the lower mudguard.
