If wear is found in one of the drive shaft joints during inspection, first remove the wheel liner or wheel cover. If the drive shaft nut is still in good condition, tighten it securely and install a new cotter pin. Use a torque wrench if necessary.
Check the car on the road, listen for knocks in the front of the car while it slowly goes in a circle at maximum wheel rotation. If you hear a clicking noise, this indicates wear of the outer constant velocity joint. Therefore, it must be replaced, repair of this unit is not provided.
If you feel vibration throughout the entire vehicle when driving on the road at increased speed, the cause may be wear on the inner constant velocity joint.
