Removing
Engage the handbrake, then jack up the front of the vehicle and secure it to stands under the bridge.
Loosen and do not use the nuts securing the end of the anti-roll bar to the lower control arm.
Remove cotter pin and castle nut securing strut ball joint to lower control arm.
Using a ball joint separation tool, separate the suspension strut ball joint from the lower control arm.
Loosen and remove the two bolts securing the lower control arm to the subframe (pic. 10.10.). Note that the rear bolt also secures the subframe to the underbody. Both bolts are very tight, you will need a long enough lever to loosen them.
Remove the lower arm from the subframe.
Installation
Please note that on some models a damping weight may be attached to the right lower arm. If the right lower arm needs to be replaced on this model, make sure the weight is moved to the new arm.
Note that the metal sleeves in the rear hub may not be used when installing the lower arm.
Set the lower control arm to the correct position on the subframe.
Install the two pivot bolts, then hold the lower arm horizontal and tighten the bolts to specification. Note that a new rear hinge bolt must be installed and must be torqued to specification.
Install the strut-to-lower arm ball joint and tighten the castle nut to specification. Insert a new cotter pin into the nut.
Connect the end of the anti-roll bar to the lower arm, paying attention to the fact that the concave washers that press the rubber pads must be installed with the concave edges towards the lower arm.
Install a new nut securing the lower arm to the anti-roll bar and tighten it so as to provide a certain compression of the rubber bushing, as shown in fig. 10.11. If necessary, replace the rubber bushings.
Install a new lock nut on the link of the lower arm to the stabilizer bar and tighten it to the required torque.
Install the road wheel and lower the vehicle to the ground.
After finishing work, check and, if necessary, adjust the setting of the front wheels, as indicated below.
