Note: On some models, the VIN is stamped on a nameplate attached to the instrument panel.
1. The nameplate with VIN is located on the floor panel in the passenger footwell, - bend the valve cut into the carpet, remove the cover
VIN is also duplicated on the nameplate fixed in the opening of the front passenger door on the B-pillar (see illustration 2), on some models, the nameplate is affixed to the engine compartment, next to the right shock absorber strut. In addition to the identification number, the plate contains some other data (see illustration 3).
2. Nameplate location
VIN decoding
Example:
WOL | O | Z | C | F | 35 | 5 | 2 | 123 456 |
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 |
- 1. Manufacturer code: WOL - Adam Opel AG.
- 2. Specialized version: O - does not belong to the number of special vehicles.
- 3. GM code: Z - Vectra-C/Signum.
- 4. Model range: C - Vectra-C/
- 5. GM-code of vehicle configuration
- 6. Body type: 69 - 4-door Sedan, 68 - GTS, 48 - Signum, 35 - Wagon
3. Contents of the rating plate
- 1 Manufacturing company
- 2 License number
- 3 Vehicle identification number (VIN)
- 4 Permissible gross vehicle weight
- 5 Permissible gross trailer weight
- 6 Maximum permissible load on the front axle of the vehicle
- 7 Maximum permissible load on the rear axle of the vehicle
- 8 Vehicle-specific data/country-specific data
4. Engine ID location
7. Model Year: Y - 2000, 1 - 2001, 2 - 2002, 3 - 2003 etc. before 9 - 2009, A - 2010, IN - 2011 etc.

Engine designation decoding
Example:
Z | 18 | X | E | - | - |
Z | 19 | - | D | T | H |
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 5 |
1. Norm of exhaust toxicity: Y - compliance with the EURO-3 standard, Z - compliance with the EURO-4 standard.
2. Working volume (displacement): 18 - 1.8 l, 20 - 2.0 l, etc.
3. Compression ratio: L - 8.5-9.0; N - 9.09.5; S - 9.5-10.0; X - 10.0-11.5; Y > 11.5.
Remark: For diesel engine, the designation «Y» insignificant (all engines have a higher compression ratio) and therefore not indicated.
4. Fuel: E - gasoline, D - diesel fuel.
5. Features (modification): H - highly accelerated L - low-forced; T - turbocharging.
Note: Letters «H» And «L» are added to the designation of the base engines, the performance of which is improved. For example, the Z19DTH engine (150 hp) is a modification of the Z19DT engine, (120 hp).
