Emergency mode function of the injection system (Opel Vectra B)

The operation of the ignition and injection system is supported by an extensive emergency mode program; if the sensor fails, a break occurs in the wire connection or a ground contact occurs. At the same time, the electronic memory device registers the failure.

The emergency mode of operation is distinguished by the control unit as follows: the normal control mode is retained, but an auxiliary value is used instead of the missing information in the ignition and fuel dosage calculations. Example: if the temperature sensor fails, the control unit makes calculations with an auxiliary value of the coolant temperature of 80°C.
