Stop lamp switch (3) located in the bracket (2) above the brake pedal (1). When replacing, disconnect the wire connector and remove the switch by turning it half a turn to the left.
Removing the brake light switch
Remove the lining under the dashboard at the driver's feet.
Unscrew and remove the heating/ventilation duct located underneath.
Release the wire connector and remove from the brake light switch.
Turn the brake light switch half a turn to the left and unscrew it from the pedal bearing bracket.
When installing, screw the brake light switch into the pedal bearing bracket so that the pin of the switch is pressed against the brake pedal.
Re-insert the wire connector.
Checking the brake light switch
If both brake lights fail, check to see if the switch is the source of the problem.
Unlock and disconnect the wire connector.
Close the wire contacts in the connector with a paper clip or a piece of wire.
If the brake lights are now on, then their switch is faulty.
