Removing
1. Raise the rear of the car and secure it on stands. Remove the corresponding rear wheel. Install the rear beam on the stand.
2. Remove the protective insert from under the rear wheel arch.
3. Unscrew a back bolt of fastening of the top part of a back rack.
4. Unscrew a forward bolt of fastening of the top part of a back rack.
5. Remove the strut from under the wheel arch.
Repair
Arrangement of a bolt of fastening of a fastener of a back rack
1. Using a special tool, compress the spring so that its upper cup is unloaded.
2. Secure the shock absorber rod against turning with a wrench and, using the second wrench, unscrew the shock absorber rod mounting nut.
3. Remove the damper rod mounting nut.
4. Remove the upper plate from the shock absorber rod.
5. Remove the damping ring.
6. Remove fastener.
7. Remove bushing.
8. Remove the glass.
9. Remove buffer and coil spring.
10. Remove the spring seat from the rear strut mounting.
11. Check all suspension strut components for wear, damage or deformation. Check the smoothness of the shock absorber rod. Check the shock absorber for leaks, as well as its stem for pitting along the entire length.
12. Install the upper spring seat in the rear strut mounting.
13. Install the buffer, glass and bushing on the shock absorber rod.
14. Install the C-pillar fastener onto the coil spring with the end of the spring in the recess in the upper spring seat (arrow).
15. Install the damping ring and top plate.
16. Tighten the shock absorber rod nut, while holding the rod from turning with a wrench.
17. Slowly loosen the spring compression tool.
Installation
Installation is made in sequence, return to removal. Tighten the C-pillar top mounting bolts after the vehicle is on wheels.
