Note: Before you start, see Chapter 3.
Examination
1. Topping up and checking the electrolyte in each cell is not possible The condition of the battery can only be checked using a special indicator.
2. The battery status indicator is located on the top of the case, and its color indicates the battery status. If the indicator is green, then the battery is in good condition. If the indicator is dark to black, then the battery needs to be charged, as described later in this chapter.
If the indicator is bright yellow, the electrolyte level is too low and the battery should be replaced.
Charger
3. Do not attempt to load the battery when the indicator is bright yellow. If the battery needs to be charged, remove it from the vehicle and charge as follows.
4. The non-separable type battery takes much longer to recharge than the standard one, and the charging time depends on the degree of discharge.
5. Requires a DC voltage type charger that has an output of 13.9-14.9 Volts with a current below 25 A.
6. If the battery needs to be charged from a fully discharged state (output voltage less than 12.2 volts), contact your Opel dealer or a battery specialist as knowledge of the charging rate and constant monitoring of the charging process are required.
