Safety precautions when working with the Ecotronic carburetor (Opel Vectra A)

To avoid personal injury and damage to the computer and ignition coil when working on vehicles with the Ecotronic fuel system, keep the following in mind:

• Touching live parts of the system while the engine is running is life-threatening.
• Do not start the engine if the battery is not securely connected. Do not disconnect the battery cables while the engine is running.
• Incorrect connection of the battery or ignition coil may cause the computer to fail.
• Do not short circuit the ignition coil terminal 1 to "ground" (for example, in order to stop the engine). This may result in damage to the coil or computer.
• Do not disconnect or connect the connector to the computer when the ignition is on. Before disconnecting, turn off the ignition and wait 20 seconds.
